Bengaluru, September 23 - Kannada superstar Kichcha Sudeepa's action-adventure thriller film Vikrant Rona has been receiving a thundering response on ZEE5. The movie started premiering digitally on September 2 after becoming a box office hit, grossing over 100 crores worldwide. ## After its successful outing at the box office, "Vikrant Rona" continued its good run on the streaming platform as well as it has crossed 1000 million or 100 crores viewing minutes on ZEE5, announced the makers. Kichcha Sudeepa took to Twitter and thanked the audience for the overwhelming response to the movie.## Directed by Anup Bhandari, the story of the movie revolves around a remote village in the middle of tropical rainforest which starts witnessing a series of unexplainable events which are attributed to the supernatural. ## Sudeepa plays the title role of Inspector Vikrant Rona along with Nirup Bhandari, Neetha Ashok, and Jacqueline Fernandez in key roles. Mumbai, May 14 - John Abraham's sci-fi actioner, Attack - Part 1 is coming to ZEE5 after completing its theatrical run. Directed by Lakshya Raj Anand, Attack was released in theaters on April 1st and eventually bombed at the box office despite its new concept. ## ZEE5, which is one of the fastest-growing streaming platforms in India, bought the post-theatrical streaming rights of the movie. Hyderabad, May 12 - SS Rajamouli's "RRR" has had a dream run at the box office. The period action drama film has been in theaters since March 25 and has broken several box office records during its glorious box office run so far. ## "RRR", starring Jr. NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgn, has grossed over 1110 crores worldwide, and now, it is set to rock the digital platform. ## According to a poster going viral on social media platforms, the film will make its OTT debut on May 20th on ZEE5 Premium for South Indian versions. However, despite the poster going viral on Twitter, ZEE5 and producers haven't officially announced the date. Mumbai, September 23: A documentary series, titled "Break Point", on Indian Tennis greats Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes is all set to premiere on ZEE5 on October 1st. ## Co-directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Nitesh Tiwari, the documentary series is the untold 'Bromance to Breakup' story, based on the iconic on-court partnership and off-court lives of Bhupati and Paes. ## The seven-part series will not only construct the tennis matches featuring the two former Grand Slam champions but also deconstruct their relationship, both on and off the court, and their public split. It will also feature former Swiss tennis legend, Martina Hingis, along with Sania Mirza, Rohan Bopanna among others. ## Hingis, who played mixed doubles with Bhuapti and Paes and won Grand Slams with them, talked about the time Bhupathi and Paes decided to part ways. Mumbai, September 22: In a major development, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) has announced a merger with Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) on Wednesday. According to the merger, Sony will hold a majority of the stake of 52.93% and will invest $1.575 billion while ZEE shareholders will hold the remaining 47.07% stake. ## The merger was approved by the ZEEL's Board of Directors in a meeting held on September 22, according to a statement by ZEE. The company also said that Puneet Goenka (CEO of Zee) will remain the Managing Director and CEO of the merged entity for five years. ## The statement said that both the companies have entered into a non-binding agreement and combine their linear networks, digital assets, production operations, and program libraries. The merged entity will still be a listed company in India and Sony Group will have the right to nominate majority directors on the board of the merged entity.## This combined entity will own 75 TV channels, two video streaming services ZEE5 & SonyLIV along with two film studios, Zee Studios & Sony Pictures India as well as a digital content studio Studio NXT. This makes it the largest entertainment network in India. ## The merger announcement comes a week after Zee Entertainment witnessed shareholder activism that saw an open call for the ouster of promoters and the incumbent management led by Punit Goenka. Coming as a significant move, the governement of India has brought the OTT platforms, such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, SonyLIV, ZEE5, Disney+Hotstar among many others, along with news websites, under the purview of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.## The central government's move to bring the OTT platforms under the I&B ministry could also mean that these platforms would have to apply for certification and approval of the content they wish to stream from the I&B ministry. ## The move is clearly a big setback for the OTT platforms which will now they have to keep a check on the content they made. Filmmaker Hansal Mehta who recently saw immense success with his web series Scam 1992 expressed his disappointment at the government's order. ## Talking to indianexpress.com, the director said, "While this decision wasn't unexpected, it is still a reason for despair. This desperation for control of free speech and expression does not augur well. I am currently very disappointed".## Karan Anshuman, known for directing web series like Inside Edge and Mirzapur, called the move "unacceptable". Taking to Twitter, "Unacceptable. Viewers and creators have to band together and challenge censorship in any and every manner!".## "Whatever happened to the understanding with Mr Javadekar that OTT will be self-regulated?
