Hanuman Ansh Live Box Office: 57x Growth Since Week 1 Pushes Devotional Hit Past ₹100 Cr Gross, Targets Net Century by 5th Weekend
Few box office stories in 2026 read quite like Hanuman Ansh's. A devotional drama made on a shoestring budget of roughly ₹2 crore, shot without a single recognizable star and initially struggling to even find adequate screens, the film has spent the last month rewriting what a small film is capable of at the Indian box office. As of Day 29, the film's India gross has touched ₹97.77 Cr — and live collections reported through the day have already pushed that tally past the symbolic ₹100 crore mark, an almost unthinkable outcome for a film that opened to barely ₹10 lakh on its first day.
From a ₹2 Crore Bet to a ₹100 Crore Blockbuster
What makes this run genuinely extraordinary is the return on investment. Hanuman Ansh released on August 7 with virtually no fanfare, playing on a fraction of the screens a typical wide release commands, and opened to a modest ₹0.10 Cr on Day 1. There was nothing in its first two weeks — which together added up to barely ₹1.5 Cr — to suggest what was coming. Then, starting in Week 3, something shifted: word-of-mouth began pulling audiences in, shows started multiplying by the day, and the collections curve went almost vertical.

Week 4 alone brought in nearly 57 times what the film made in its opening week — a growth pattern almost never seen in mainstream Bollywood, where films typically peak on Day 1 and decline from there. Hanuman Ansh has effectively done the opposite: it opened small and built into a phenomenon. That ₹61 Cr fourth week is now the second-highest 4th-week collection in Hindi box office history, trailing only Dhurandhar, and comfortably ahead of Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge and Chhaava.

Climbing the Daily Charts, Day by Day
Perhaps the most telling sign of this film's momentum isn't the total, but the trajectory. Tracked against every other Bollywood release on the same calendar day, Hanuman Ansh has been steadily climbing the daily top-5 leaderboard through its fourth week — and on Day 29, it went all the way to the top.

That Day 29 chart-topping finish came with a ₹10.00 Cr net collection — enough to push past even Dhurandhar's ₹8.75 Cr on the same day.

Region by Region: Screens Multiplying Everywhere
Stack the film's fourth week start (Day 22) against its close (Day 28), and the expansion is unmistakable — show counts have more than doubled in almost every major market as exhibitors scrambled to keep up with demand. That expansion did dilute per-show occupancy slightly in the bigger centres, since new shows were being added faster than the audience could immediately fill them, but several markets — particularly Bhopal, Lucknow and Kolkata — held occupancy remarkably steady even as show counts surged.

Kolkata stands out as the one major market where occupancy actually rose even as show count doubled — a rare and strong demand signal — while Bhopal and Lucknow barely dropped despite show counts more than doubling, underlining just how deep the audience pull runs in those pockets. NCR and Mumbai, despite commanding by far the largest show counts, saw the steepest occupancy declines as exhibitors likely over-corrected on supply.

National Chains Are Cashing In Too
The multiplex chains have joined the surge in a big way through the afternoon hours alone: PVR has pulled in a gross approaching ₹1.5 Cr off roughly 50,000-plus tickets, INOX has added a little over ₹1.2 Cr from around 42,000 tickets, and Cinepolis has chipped in close to ₹80 lakh on approximately 23,000 tickets — a striking single-window haul for a film that couldn't buy a wide release a month ago.
Neck and Neck With Mirzapur on BookMyShow
Perhaps the most staggering sign of the Hanuman Ansh phenomenon is that on its 30th day, it is running neck-and-neck with the year's biggest theatrical event, Mirzapur: The Movie. Latest real-time data from BookMyShow shows both films operating at a fever pitch, with each clocking over 30,000 tickets sold in a single hour. Remarkably, the devotional sleeper hit actually edged past the action blockbuster in a recent window, logging 31.38K tickets against Mirzapur’s 30.13K. For a film in its fifth week to trade blows with—and even outpace—a Day 2 franchise giant in hourly sales is a box office anomaly of historic proportions. With this relentless momentum, Hanuman Ansh is now firmly on track to breach the ₹100 Crore India Net mark by its 5th weekend, cementing its legacy as the ultimate box office miracle
Next Stop: Overseas, via Hombale Films
The film's journey is far from over. Hanuman Ansh is set for its international theatrical release on September 11, distributed overseas by Hombale Films — the studio behind KGF and Kantara — a partnership that instantly puts the film's global rollout in serious hands. With diaspora markets in the US, UK, Australia and the Gulf historically responding well to devotional and spiritually-themed Hindi content, the overseas leg could add a meaningful new chapter to a collection graph that has already defied every expectation set for it.
