Pawan Kalyan and Sai Dharam Tej's 'Bro' Scores Huge First Day At The Worldwide Box Office

Hyderabad, July 29 - Power star Pawan Kalyan and Sai Dharam Tej's fantasy comedy-drama film "Bro" has taken a huge start at the worldwide box office, grossing approx. 44 crores. Pawan Kalyan is playing a supporting role in the movie still he pulled up a massive crowd in cinemas on the opening day. ## Directed by Samuthirakani, "Bro" grossed a huge approx. 32 crores gross (excl. hires), including approx. 23.60 crores share collection in the two Telugu states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Pawan Kalyan's last two movies, "Bheemla Nayank" and "Vakeel Saab" had scored an opening day of approx. 38 crores 45 crores, respetivaly. ## The business of "Bro" got affected by heavy rains in the States, still, it is one of the biggest openings for PSPK and by far the biggest ever for Sai Dharam Tej.## The all-India opening day gross collection of "Bro" is approx. 35 crores, which is the 3rd biggest for a Telugu movie in 2023 after "Adipurush" and "Veera Simha Reddy". Overseas, "Bro" scored approx. 8.50 crores, pushing the worldwide opening day of the movie to approx. 43.70 crores. ## "Bro" will need to show a strong hold over the weekend and beyond to achieve the break-even target which is around 100 crores. Dulquer Salmaan Announces His Next Pan India Movie 'Kaantha'

Kochi, July 28 - Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan will headline his next Pan India movie "Kaantha". DQ will produce the film under his banner Wayfarer Films in association with Rana Daggubati's Spirit Media.## While the plot details of the movie are kept under wraps for now, "Kaantha will be directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, whose debut feature "Nila" (2016) won the audience award at the Cinequest San Jose Film Festival. The filmmaker also assisted Ang Lee on the Oscar-winning "Life of Pi" (2012).## The movie was announced on DQ's birthday today. Box Office: Ram Charan's 'Rangasthalam' and Yash's 'KGF' Films' Opening Weekend Collection In Japan

Tokyo, July 19 - Telugu superstar Ram Charan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu's period action drama film "Rangasthalam" was released in Japan on July 14 and did decent business in the opening weekend on the limited screens. ## Directed by Sukumar, the all-time blockbuster movie reportedly grossed ¥10.1 million or approx. 60 lacs on its 3-day opening weekend with approx. 7200 admissions. The opening weekend collection of the movie failed to beat the opening day numbers of Ram Charan and Jr. NTR's "RRR" which grossed ¥18 million in October last year.## "Rangasthalam" was released around 70 screens in Japan and grossed 2.5 million yen on its opening day. It is expected to have a good run as the word of mouth among the Japanese audiences is super positive.## Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, "Rangasthalam" was an industry hit during its release in 2018 in Telugu. It grossed over 200 crores at the worldwide box office and became the highest-grossing film in Ram Charan as well as Samantha's career. ## Meanwhile, the all-time blockbuster period action drama Kannada movies, "KGF 1" and "KGF 2", starring superstar Yash were also released in Japan on July 14 and they combined grossed ¥11 million or 65 lacs in the opening weekend with approx. 7840 admissions.## The original KGF movie grossed ¥5.8 million (35 lacs) with 4120 admissions while its sequel earned ¥5.2 million (30 lacs) with 3720 admissions. Makers' Huge Demand For 'Salaar' Theatrical Rights In Telugu States?

Hyderabad, July 9 - After shattering box office records with "KGF: Chapter 2" last year, director Prashanth Neel's next blockbuster "Salaar" with one of the biggest Indian superstars Prabhas is having huge anticipation as the release date getting nearer. ## The teaser of the movie was recently launched which has raised anticipation, not just among the fans, but also in the trade which is expecting the movie to do wonders at the box office. As the pre-release buzz has escalated, the makers of "Salaar" have reportedly started negotiating for the film's theatrical rights. ## As per the buzz in the Telugu trade, the makers are demanding as high as 190-200 crores for theatrical rights in the two Telugu states, including around 70 crores alone in the Nizam region. The asking price for the Ceded area is said to be around 35 crores while the same is around 90 crores in Andhra Pradesh, according to a report from Track Tollywood. ## The aforementioned quoted amount is in the lines of SS Rajamouli's "RRR" starring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan which the movie easily covered and gave the buyers huge profit. However, in the case of "Salaar", the buyers are reportedly hesitant as a couple of recent films of Prabhas didn't do the expected business and ended up as loss ventures in Telugu states. ## There is no doubt "Salaar" will take a huge opening nationwide as the combination of Prashanth Neel and Prabhas, backed by a reputed production house which is Hombale Films, is too big to go unnoticed. However, after facing back-to-back losses, the buyers might find it difficult to commit to the high demand for theatrical rights even though they are aware it is a big box office tentpole movie. ## As confirmed by the makers with the teaser itself, "Salaar" will be released in two parts with the first part, titled "Salaar Part 1 - Ceasefire", slated for September 28, 2023, release in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi languages.
