RRR Becomes First Indian Movie To Reach 300 Cr. Net Post Pandemic; Crosses 500 Cr. Worldwide
Hyderabad, March 28 - SS Rajamouli-directed "RRR" took just 3 days to set the Indian box office on fire and break the unreachable post-pandemic target. The period action drama has become the first Indian movie since "War" (2019) to cross 300 crores net at the box office. ## The Jr. NTR and Ram Charan-fronted with Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt in important roles, "RRR" scored 317 crores net in all languages. In the original Telugu version, the movie has scored 209.48 crores, while in Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, the film minted 30.38 crores. ## Meanwhile, the Hindi version was in full flow over the weekend and generated 75.32 crores net. It also recorded the second-biggest opening weekend in Hindi during the pandemic after "Sooryavanshi" (77.09 crores). The movie grew from strength to strength after taking the opening of 20.07 crores on Friday, before jumping on Saturday to 23.75 crores and 31.50 crores on Sunday. ## Overseas, "RRR" scored approx. 120 crores gross in the first 3 days. At the USA box office, the critically hailed film minted $9.4 million (71.55 cr.) in the first weekend, which is the second-biggest start for an Indian movie ever after "Baahubali 2" ($10.4M). (@PenMovies) March 28, 2022 ## "RRR" is a fictional story about two Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr. NTR), who fought against the British Raj and Nizam of Hyderabad respectively. The movie stars Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, and Olivia Morris in key roles.
