After Box Office, Tom Cruise's 'Top Gun Maverick' Breaks Digital Sales Record

Los Angeles, September 3 - Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise's Top Gun Maverick has truly been a blockbuster by all means. The action thriller is already the highest-grossing film of the year and Cruise's career, and now, it has broken the record upon its digital release. ## According to Paramount Home Entertainment (via Variety), "Top Gun Maverick" has become the best-selling digital movie in its first week of availability in the USA. The movie was released on digital on August 23, 2022, also is already one of the top 20 best-selling digital releases in history after being available for one week. The company, however, didn't disclose its digital sales number. ## Variety reports that the digital release of the film was the top-selling item on Amazon in the U.S. across every category on the day of its release. The film has been the No. 1 bestseller on Fandango's Vudu since its digital release and the "Top Gun" and "Top Gun: Maverick" bundle is its top-selling bundle.## Directed by Joseph Kosinski, "Top Gun 2" has had a sensational run at the box office and still playing in theaters even after three months of release, a rare achievement in the early post-pandemic era. Mumbai, September 1 - One of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters of the year, Everything Everywhere All at Once, starring Michelle Yeoh is finally coming to the Indian theaters. The absurdist comedy-drama is the highest-grossing film for A24 studio with over $100 million worldwide against the budget of $25 million. ## Ever since the film was released in March of this year, the fans in India have been enquiring about its release in the country. During an interview with comicbook, Bruckheimer said that they will be sending the script to Cage soon. ## "Let's hope we're working on the script right now. Hopefully [Cage] likes it, but it's really good. Kuala Lumpur, August 12 - The government of Malaysia is in no mood to spare any film that promotes LGBT elements. Marvel Studios' recent blockbuster, Thor: Love and Thunder, was stopped from releasing in the country, and the government has now confirmed that it was prevented from releasing in local theaters due to its LGBT. ## Thor 4 is one of the many Hollywood films that have been stopped from hitting theaters in Malaysia, and this also includes Pixar's recently released, Lightyear. As per Variety, both "Thor 4" and "Lightyear" were submitted by distributor Disney for classification and censorship by the country's Film Censorship Board (LPF). ## While the censor board of Malaysia at first was ready to allow the film in theaters, however, upon the condition of cutting some of the LGBT scenes but Disney chose not to surrender. "Lightyear" was banned in 16 or more Muslim-majority countries.## "Recently there was a film that did not pass censorship, that is the new 'Thor' film", said Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin. "[The movie] touched on LGBT but we see right now there are many films with LGBT elements that slip past the censorship".## Zahidi blamed foreign elements for the problem, claimed that LGBT films were becoming more subtle in their methods, and asked for public vigilance. "I am frustrated because the outside world was the one promoting LGBT,” he said responding to a question in Parliament.## While the minister said that his government is committed to banning films showing LGBT in theaters, he also revealed that beyond movie theaters and broadcast TV, his powers are limited and do not cover streaming services that are based outside the country.
