After Box Office, Tom Cruise's 'Top Gun Maverick' Breaks Digital Sales Record
Los Angeles, September 3 - Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise's Top Gun Maverick has truly been a blockbuster by all means. The action thriller is already the highest-grossing film of the year and Cruise's career, and now, it has broken the record upon its digital release. ## According to Paramount Home Entertainment (via Variety), "Top Gun Maverick" has become the best-selling digital movie in its first week of availability in the USA. The movie was released on digital on August 23, 2022, also is already one of the top 20 best-selling digital releases in history after being available for one week. The company, however, didn't disclose its digital sales number. ## Variety reports that the digital release of the film was the top-selling item on Amazon in the U.S. across every category on the day of its release. The film has been the No. 1 bestseller on Fandango's Vudu since its digital release and the "Top Gun" and "Top Gun: Maverick" bundle is its top-selling bundle.## Directed by Joseph Kosinski, "Top Gun 2" has had a sensational run at the box office and still playing in theaters even after three months of release, a rare achievement in the early post-pandemic era. For the record, the movie has grossed more than $1.4 billion globally, including $692 million at the domestic (North America) box office. ## The film currently stands as the No. 6 highest-grossing film in domestic box-office history and has an outside chance to beat "Black Panther" ($700.05M) to become the 5th highest-grossing film ever in the USA. ## Stay tuned...
