Mumbai, August 10 - The much-awaited family comedy-drama film, Raksha Bandhan, starring Akshay Kumar, is finally hitting theaters worldwide tomorrow (August 11). Directed by Anand L Rai, Raksha Bandhan is touted to revive the family drama genre, which used to be the strongest zone of the Bollywood industry. ## The movie revolves around Lala Kedarnath (Akshay), who runs a street food shop, the third generation of his family to do so. He plays a role of a brother whose primary concern is getting his four sisters married, and at the same time, dealing with the problem of dowry. Opening Day Box Office Prediction For Aamir Khan's 'Laal Singh Chaddha' and Akshay Kumar-Fronted 'Raksha Bandhan'

Mumbai, August 10 - There is a lot depending on the upcoming two Bollywood biggies - Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan, as far as the box office is concerned. It would have been nice if they have got a solo release, but that is not happening as both the movies are releasing on August 11. ## Laal Singh Chaddha, which stars superstar Aamir Khan in the title role, is the biggest movie this month and the industry is expecting it to perform according to the reputation it is carrying. However, the advance booking trend is saying something else which might have forced the industry to lower their expectations, at least for the opening day. ## It would have been a huge surprise to see an Aamir Khan's film not able to pick in advance sales. However, things have changed post-pandemic as the trend of box office openings post-pandemic has largely been on the lower side. Irrespective of the star power, Bollywood films haven't been able to take the big opening except for Akshay Kumar's, Sooryavanshi, which opened to over 26 crores on Diwali 2021. ## Laal Singh Chaddha, which has so far grossed approx. 3.50 crores in advance sales, is looking to open around 12-13 crores. The movie will depend on word of mouth, and we are expecting it to be positive which might push the film to around 15 crores net start. The 15 crores opening is not at all good by the standard Aamir has set, but the industry should take it in a positive way as it is having a clash with another big film, that too under current circumstances. ## On the other hand, Akshay Kumar-fronted, Raksha Bandhan is not really dependent upon the advance booking trend and will largely rely on spot bookings. The makers have promised the revive the family drama genre with this Anand L Rai-directorial and the inside reports are also super positive. ## Raksha Bandhan, which is having a perfect Holiday release, matching the vibes of the Raksha Bandhan festival, is very much on track to open around Akshay Kumar's last film, Samrat Prithviraj. Going by the advance booking, the 8-9 crores opening is a sure shot, but we are expecting it to have a better spot booking, which, hopefully, will help the film to open around 10-11 crores net. ## The best thing for both the movies is that they have a long holiday weekend ahead. So, if the critics' reviews and word of mouth is positive, both LSC and RB have all the potential to grow over the weekend, which is likely to happen. In combination, the Bollywood industry can expect 23-25 crores against its overestimated 30 crores net. ## Stay tuned...

Filmmakers Are Making OTT A Challange To Cinema, Says Aamir Khan

Mumbai, August 8 - Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, who is gearing up for the release of his most-awaited comedy-drama film Laal Singh Chaddha, said that the digital platforms are not a challenge to big screen cinema but the filmmakers are making it a challenge to the cinema. ## Aamir was recently in Chennai for the promotions of Laal Singh Chaddha. During an interview with Galatta, the superstar spoke about what the Indian film industry needs to do to save cinema. It is a well-known fact that Aamir is a huge ambassador of big screens cinema and his upcoming movie is also designed for the big screen only. ## During the covid-19 pandemic, many films opted for a short theatrical window which has largely backfired. Aamir said that the industry must understand that to save cinema, there must be a bigger gap between theatrical release and OTT premiere. ## The actor went on to say that the industry is not putting effort to bring the audiences to the theaters by keeping a short theatrical window. He said that when a movie will come to OTT within 4 weeks, how can filmmakers expect the audience to come to theaters to watch movies. ## Adding further, the PK actor said that the industry should give a clear choice to the audience that if they want to watch the film on OTT then they have to wait for 6 months. Making a valid point, Aamir said that if the movie is good and being appreciated, then the audience will feel that they should not miss it if the theater window is 6 months. ## For economical and time reasons, films can't come on OTT so fast. If they do, cinema will stand no chance. It's in our hands, we have to decide. My film won't come to OTT for 6 months. Either watch my film in the theater or wait for 6 months, he added.## Directed by Advait Chandan, Laal Singh Chaddha also stars Kareena Kapoor, Naga Chaitanya (in his Hindi film debut), and Mona Singh. It is scheduled to release on August 11 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.## Stay tuned...

Laal Singh Chaddha Versus Raksha Bandhan Clash

Mumbai, August 7 - This Thursday will see two huge films Laal Singh Chaddha starring Aamir Khan & Rakshbandhan starring Akshay Kumar colliding with each other at the box office. The clash is huge as both Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar are among the biggest stars of the nation with huge fanbases across all segments. ## The last time when these two stars came together was in 2007 when Welcome starring Akshay Kumar clashed with Aamir Khan's Taare Zameen Par. Welcome took bumper opening at the box office while Taare Zameen Par was a non-starter but Taare Zameen Par trended exceedingly well. Eventually, both the films proved to be blockbusters at the box office, and the expectations are going to replicate a similar level of success. ## Laal Singh Chaddha is an official remake of the Hollywood classic Forrest Gump while Rakshabandhan is an original story but the subject of brother-sister has been used in many films before so the novelty factor will be missing from both the films.## The advance booking of both the films has already started and as expected Laal Singh Chaddha is maintaining a healthy lead over its contemporary Rakshabandhan. Laal Singh Chaddha will have a 50% or higher final advance than Rakshabandhan. Even the opening day figures are going to be like same as Aamir Khan has better initial pull than Akshay Kumar in almost all the circuits of India with a huge difference being in South India where Aamir Khan has a strong following. Akshay Kumar has better pull in Bihar and a few other out-and-out mass circuits but Rakshabandhan is not a type of film where masses will lap on initially. ## The other side of this clash is that Rakshabandhan is a much safer film in this clash as the making cost of Rakshabandhan is not even 50% of Laal Singh Chaddha so even if the film does the business of 100cr net, It will be a successful film for its makers while Laal Singh Chaddha has to do over 150 cr net for being a successful or better film. ## The good thing for both films is that the window is huge for 11th August with many holidays falling in the first week so if the content of both the films gets appreciated then the numbers will come automatically. The single-day collections on 11th August should be in the range of 25-30crs and if this happens then the industry will be in a joyous mood.## Stay tuned...

Box Office: Ek Villain Returns Ends First Week With Over 50 Crores Worldwide Gross

Mumbai, August 5 - Director Mohit Suri's, Ek Villain Returns, has completed its first so-so week at the box office. The movie has managed to outperform most of the Bollywood films post-pandemic despite the collection not that high as it used to be before the pandemic. The romantic action thriller, which is the sequel to Suri's 2014 super hit "Ek Villain", scored approx. 33 crores net in the opening week. It remained consistent at a low level throughout the weekdays. At the overseas box office, EVR has scored approx. 12 crores gross, which is a good collection for a film like EVR. The total worldwide gross box office collection of the film has reached approx. 51 crores, becoming the 9th Bollywood film of the year to reach the 50 crores mark. The good thing about the movie is that there is no competition in its second week as well and this should help it to earn 10-15 crores more in the net collection. The lifetime net collection of around 50 crores will be considered a decent success for the movie. About This Movie This film is directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Bhushan Kumar and Ekta Kapoor under the banners of T-Series and Balaji Motion Pictures. Will The Negative Campaign Surrounding Laal Singh Chaddha Be A Blessing In Disguise?

Mumbai, August 4 - As Laal Singh Chaddha is inching close to its release date, the negativity surrounding the movie has created awareness and buzz which was comparatively low earlier due to slack marketing.## We have witnessed Post the pandemic many movies were severely affected due to low promotions which immediately further ended up with them receiving low single-digit openings.## As we have seen in the past sometimes the negativity or the negative marketing of the movie has been favorable to it in the long run which will eventually lead to pulling huge crowds into the theatres. Negativity generates curiosity which is the main reason for positive outcomes in some cases. Movies like PK by Aamir Khan and Padmaavat by Ranveer Singh are examples of this.## Even though Negativity surrounding Laal Singh Chaddha is not as large compared to PK and Padmaavat still it managed successfully to create buzz-generating curiosity in the minds of the audiences. This very well projects a good opening on board for this Aamir Khan starrer.## In the last few days, we have witnessed many people coming in support of Laal Singh Chaddha against the negativity. Aamir Khan's past comments about current national issues are the prime reason why a particular section of the community is calling for a boycott of his movie.## Stay tuned...

Akshay Kumar's 'Raksha Bandhan' Promises To Revive Bollywood Family Drama Genre

Mumbai, August 4 - There was a time in Bollywood when the family drama genre used to be the center attraction of the films. But with the introduction of new age cinema, the family drama genre has somehow lost its magic and there have hardly been such films nowadays expected a few in the last decade or so. ## The upcoming Bollywood film, Raksha Bandhan is one such film that revolves around family values and the emotional bond between siblings. The Bollywood family drama peaked with the films like "Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!" (1994) and "Vivak" (2006) - and "Raksha Bandhan" promises to revive this genre in a big way. ## Directed by Anand L Rai, "Raksha Bandhan" deals with the burning issue of dowry among Indian families. Set in the Chandni Chowk area of Old Delhi, the film follows Akshay Kumar, who runs a street food shop, the third generation of his family to do so. He plays a role of a brother whose primary concern is getting his four sisters married, and at the same time, dealing with the problem of dowry.## During a recent interview with Variety, the "Padman" actor said, "Dowry is a big problem in India, and many other places also. The best part about the film is, that it not only talks about the problem, but it also talks about the solution". He added, "This is not a preachy film. It's a very commercial cinema, which has five songs. It has lots of humor. And it teaches you about family values".## Anand L Rai said, "In Raksha Bandhan, there is a lot of hunger — hunger to come out with Indian values, hunger to depict the culture, hunger to talk about the bonding, the relationships, which are there with us, we've not gone insensitive towards them, but somehow they've taken a back seat, we don't talk about it. Let me bring all those emotions to the forefront, which we have unknowingly sidelined".## The filmmaker believes that the modern generations leaving in metro cities don't know what was a joint family, so it is important to make such films to let the young generation know about the old sentiment of living together as a family. ## Produced by Zee Studios, Colour Yellow Productions, and Cape of Good Films, "Raksha Bandhan" reunites Bhumi Pednekar with Akshay Kumar after the critically acclaimed and box office hit "Toilet: Ek Prem Katha". The movie, which is scheduled to release on August 11, also stars Sadia Khateeb, Sahejmeen Kaur, Deepika Khanna, and Smrithi Srikanth in prominent roles. ## Stay tuned...

Aamir Khan vs Akshay Kumar: A Track Of Their Previous Clashes Against Each Other

Mumbai, 4 Aug 2022: As we all are aware two of the biggest stars of Indian cinema Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar are all set to clash on 11 August with their movies Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan but this won't be the first time these two have gone against one and other. ## The first clash between the two took place in 1994 when Suhaag of Akshay Kumar clashed with Aamir Khan's multi-starrer Andaaz Apna Apna. Suhaag emerged as the winner in this clash however Andaaz Apna Apna received a cult status post its television premiere. ## The second time these two squared off against each other was immediately a year after their first clash. This time Akshay Kumar starrer Maidaan- E-Jung clashed with Aamir Khan's Baazi. This time both movies tanked at the box office but comparatively, Baazi did better business than Maidaan-E-Jung. ## The third and the biggest clash between Aamir and Akshay Kumar occurred in 2007 when Tare Zameen par and Welcome came on the same day. Both the movies emerged victorious at the box office this time. ## Generally, in box office clashes history tells us that better movies always prevail irrespective of their star power, Many big stars have lost clashes at some point in their careers. ## The last clash between Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar is a great example where both movies didn't affect each other's business and were profitable. Trade experts and the industry stakeholders too are expecting the same verdict to happen as these two get set to collide for the 4rth time. ## Both Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan fall under the category of emotional drama, which in most cases automatically connected with the family audiences. Plus the independence day weekend will give the audience sufficient time to make a better choice. ## Stay tuned.

Aamir Khan Reveals Why He's Not In Hurry To Release 'Laal Singh Chaddha' On OTT

Mumbai, August 3 - The anticipation around Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha is building up as the release is getting nearer. The movie will have a theatrical release on August 11 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages. ## "Laal Singh Chaddha" will have enough to perform at the box office as Aamir Khan is in no hurry to bring the film to OTT anytime soon. While most of the Bollywood films post-pandemic have opted for a 4-week theatrical window, "Laal Singh Chaddha" will be released on OTT only after 6 months of theatrical release. ## The superstar, in a recent interview, revealed why is not in hurry to bring the film to a digital platform. "One of the reasons primarily I think the curiosity of going to theaters has reduced because films come on OTT right after they come in theaters, they come on OTT very fast".## "So I have always tried to keep a 6-month gap for my films. I don't know what the industry follows, but I like to keep a 6-month gap. So that’s what I tried to do for all my films and up till now, we have managed that", he added. ## Aamir is right in what he thinks about changing the mindset of the producers and moviegoers. Theater owners across the country have been speaking against this current model and have been asking for at least 8 weeks gap between theatrical and OTT releases of films. There are reports that Bollywood has finally agreed to keep the 8-week theatrical window from August 1st. ## Meanwhile, the trailer of "Laal Singh Chaddha" is receiving love from all quarters. The audience is looking forward to seeing Aamir Khan depict the life journey of Laal Singh Chaddha.
